Rashad McCants says dating Khloe Kardashian ruined his NBA career before it started and cost him $70 million.

McCants was one of the many stars on a loaded University of North Carolina Men’s Basketball team that won the NCAA National Championship back in 2005. The Minnesota Timberwolves took him with the #14 pick in the NBA Draft that season. His first couple of seasons were lackluster but he showed some upside during the 2007-08 season where he averaged a career-high 14 points per game.

This improvement caught the eye of NBA fans, as well as reality show star and serial Black athlete bodysnatcher Khloe Kardashian. In 2008 McCants started dating Kardashian. Soon, his game began to deteriorate. So much that the T-Wolves to traded him to the Sacramento Kings which has often been referred to as “basketball hell.” He would play one season with the Kings before vanishing from the league and ending up in the D-league where he would struggle as well.

Almost 10 years later, McCants is getting a second chance at professional basketball with Ice Cube’s BIG3 league. He was recently the #1 pick in the league’s first draft. While he is happy to be playing basketball and getting paid for it again, he can’t help but think about the millions he missed out on in the NBA. However, he isn’t blaming his failed NBA career on his injuries or bad reputation. Instead, he’s blaming it on Kardashian.

In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, McCants said that dating Kardashian made people question his commitment to the NBA.

Charlotte Observer writes:

But McCants’ biggest regret was his highly-publicized relationship with reality TV star Khloe Kardashian late in his career, which he said gave people an opportunity to doubt his commitment to the NBA.

“Without that situation in play, I’m a $60-70 million player,” McCants said. “Easily.”

McCants is not the first player to blame Kardashian for career struggles or have his downfall connected to her. Kardashian was married to former NBA All-Star and Champion Lamar Odom and we wound up on his deathbed. James Harden said the year he dated Kardashian was one of the worst of his life and affected his playing career too. While it does seem like a sucker move to blame a woman for not being able to play, the connections can’t be ignored.
