Renowned comedian and Civil Rights activist Dick Gregory has passed away. He was 84. 

Gregory had recently fallen ill, but it was thought he would make a recovery.

However, Roland S. Martin took to Twitter to offer his condolences.

The family has confirmed the icon’s passing.
