XXXTentacion has developed a reputation for being edgy and that’s resonated with his steadily growing fan base. However, the Florida rapper set off a few triggers after posting a faked suicide hanging video to his Instagram page which sparked a flurry of angry comments and concern.
As pointed out by the folks at Complex, XXXTentacion posted the clip Wednesday evening while sharing some of the reaction, and a quick look at the rapper’s page would suggest he’s going for a theme. With just three posts on the page, the first is dedicated to his upcoming album 17 and the cover for the release. It appears that XXX had a friend who did commit suicide, prompting fans to call it a tasteless act of self-promotion ahead of the album’s Friday release.
XXX, who has not taken down the clip, posted another Instagram clip of him essentially shooting an upcoming music video with the caption, “[I]f you thought I would “pretend” to kill myself for a publicity stunt you’re f-cking stupid.”
