Kevin Spacey has been accused of making a sexual advance to actor Anthony Rapp (Star Trek: Discovery) when he was just 14-years-old. The Oscar-winning actor reacted by apologizing, and coming out of the closet.

For the record, being gay has nothing to do with being a child molester.

BuzzFeed News initially reported Anthony Rapp’s claims, and they were damning.

In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Rapp is publicly alleging for the first time that in 1986, Spacey befriended Rapp while they both performed on Broadway shows, invited Rapp over to his apartment for a party, and, at the end of the night, picked Rapp up, placed him on his bed, and climbed on top of him, making a sexual advance. According to public records, Spacey was 26. Rapp was 14.

This is only the beginning of the struggle.

Spacey responded by apologizing, but also used the moment to come out as a gay man.

Yes, 95% of the world said “He didn’t do that already?” but whatever.

Said Spacey, via Twitter, “…if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.

He then adds, “This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are other stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy… I now choose to live as a gay man.”

There it is, the gay sympathy card. What will be telling is if more men come forward to call out any ill behavior from Spacey.
