Promoter Sued For Failed Rick Ross And Erykah Badu Concert

An Atlanta promoter could be forced to pay $50,000 for a failed Erykah Badu and Rick Ross concert this fall.

In October Badu and Rick Ross were slated to perform at the city’s Atlantic Civic Center as part of Soul Train Music Awards after party.

On Tuesday Michael-Bryant Hicks and Eve Runyon filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Tracey Pennywell of Penny in the Well Productions in Fulton County, Georgia.

According to the court documents, Pennywell claimed to have booked a deal with SoulTrain Productions to promote the concert and accepted Runyon and Hicks investment of $50,000 for the performance.

The plaintiffs claim that Badu and Ross were scheduled to perform at the Atlanta Civic Center but Pennywell changed the venue to the city’s Club Opera at the last minute.

After becoming suspicious Hicks and Runyon say they called the venue to confirm and were told that the concert had been canceled.

They are suing Pennywell for damages and the $50,000 previously invested.

Ross and Badu were not named in the suit.
