History was made last night as Viola Davis became the first Black actress to win an Emmy Award as a lead actress. Also winning Emmys were renowned thespians Regina King and Uzo Aduba. 

Well it’s about time. Tonight (Sept. 20), Viola Davis became the first Black lead actress to win an Emmy award for her performance on ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder. 

Taraji P. Henson snagged herself an Emmy nomination this morning (July 14) for her role as Cookie Lyon on Empire. Henson is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
