Spelman student Jasmine Lynn was hit in the chest by a stray bullet while walking with friends to the neighboring campus of Clark Atlanta University.
The 19-year-old student was struck around 12:30 a.m. when shots were fired on the Clark Atlanta campus, according to Fox news.
Keith Meadows of the Atlanta Police Department said Lynn's friends saw the weapon, heard gunshots and told her to drop to the ground. Meadows said Lynn was struck before she could duck for cover.
In addition to Lynn's death, a Clark Atlanta student was wounded by a stray bullet and was treated at the Grady Memorial Hospital.
A joint conference with CAU and Spelman will be held later today.
