Cory Gunz Breaks Down Lyrics; 5 Minute Freestyle [Video Included]

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

“I'm a fan of lyricism, so I like just spazzing out, going crazy.”

Quality has forever outweighed quantity.  What is the point is an abundance of one things if it lacks substance and has no lasting impression?  What is the point in essentially having a whole lot of nothing?

Part of the XXL Freshman Class of '09, New York's own Cory Gunz is a rapper that knows lyrics and is very keen as his rapid fire flow is sure to leave bullets that will stay buried in their target.  Educated shots are more beneficial than random shots because they are planned and usually hit their mark.

Without a debut to date, his presence on Lil Wayne's (more...)

Arrests In Africa Link al-Qaida To Drugs

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Three people believed to be associates of al-Qaida have been taken into federal custody and accused of dropping off drugs in Africa to fund future terrorist attacks. The three men were arrested in Ghana and mark the first time the U.S. has been able to link drug trafficking in Africa to al-Qaida.

According to the Associated Press, the U.S. has long been concerned about close ties between militants and the heroin trade in Afghanistan but this case in African comes as a surprise and shows an expansion of the organization's ties around the world.

Court papers say the DEA infiltrated the group by using informants posing as supporters of Colombia's rebel army. When an informant asked how the men planned on moving the drugs securely through Africa, one of them confirmed that al-Qaida would provide them protection.

The men are currently in Federal custody and being held without bail.

Soulja Boy Speaks On New Album; Becoming One of the Best Rappers

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Say what you will about Soula Boy; He killed Hip Hop with all the dancing.  He dumbed the music down and made substance obsolete with less than mediocre lyrics.  The fact that he even considers himself a rapper is a laughing matter.

No matter what darts people have to throw at the young entertainer, the point still stands that he is still in the game and is in the process of releasing his third official album The DeAndre Way.

Set to drop in April, there has been word that the “Crank Dat” hitmaker has tapped the likes of Snoop Dogg and Kanye West to assist him in crafting his upcoming project.

Usually strictly for the dance aspect, after the release of his second album, Soulja Boy made the decision to place more focus on (more...)

Update: Asher Roth Denies Being Gay

Monday, December 21st, 2009

In the wake of all the hoopla surrounding the “Gay Rapper” and Asher Roth possibly being the poster boy for the cause and coming out the closet, the Pennsylvania MC has put the brakes on the speculation. Asher released the following statement putting an end to the rumors:

“I hate to disappoint and take away the entertainment of it all but I am straight, not gay. It's disheartening to know such "news" on someone's personal life can be portrayed as fact with no viable source. This, to me, is an opportunity to expose our vulnerability to lies and manipulation through unprofessional and irresponsible news outlets, in which people consider TRUTH. Further, someone's sexual orientation should NEVER be big news, as it delivers a troubling message to children that they can't be themselves without fear of judgment.

Race, creed, and sexual persuasion should not just be tolerated but understood and accepted. It's extremely (more...)
