The Clipse Defend Their 'Popeyes' Video And Lyrics

Friday, December 18th, 2009

“Obama's Fried Chicken was nothing racist about that….”

Malice and Pusha T of the Clipse have experienced widespread controversy for their video for “Popular Demand (Popeyes) due to a scene that was censored for TV.

The music video for the song ,which also features Camron', shows a restaurant named ‘Obama Fried Chicken' but when the finished product made its television debut, the words were noticeably blurred out, leading many to believe that it was done to prevent racial implications.

Obviously not happy with the censorship, the Clipse are defending their video and according to Pusha T, (more...)

Katt Williams' year is taking another turn for the worse, largely in part of an ex-employee who's taking him to court.

Rihanna: Battered Woman Or Media Junkie? [Editorial]

Friday, December 18th, 2009

The progressing development of Chris Brown and Rihanna and the directions of their careers has placed me in a position to question where all of this really came from.

Now in no shape or form is domestic abuse acceptable or excusable in any right.  In that fact, there is never a valid reason for one person to lay their hands on another with intents to doing harm to them.  With that being said, the case of Chris Brown and Rihanna is a symbol of the issue plaguing Black America and relationships between men and women.

As violence has continued to ravage the urban community, the case of Rihanna is foreign territory for America who shudder at the thought that things such as this happen within a household, but it is common ground for Black men and women whose tumultuous roads take such turns more often that the mainstream eye is willing to open itself up to.

Most can look at the media to having a blind (more...)

"The Boss of All Bosses" Gunned Down By Mexican Navy

Friday, December 18th, 2009

The "War on Drugs" continues to rage into yet another decade, with drug czars reigning supreme over those that do not have enough support, will, or authority to do anything about their violent antics.

In an increasingly bloody affair, Mexican President Felipe Calderón  is making good on his promise to increase the military presence of his nation in order to defeat the various drug cartels residing among his people.

Though usually of mixed results, Calderón's latest effort to stop the illegal drug trade plaguing his people proved to be nothing less than a highly successful affair accentuated by the fatal capture of Artuo Beltrán Leyva, also known as the “Boss of All Bosses.”

One of the two most powerful kingpins in all of Mexico and deemed one of the most wanted drug lords by local officials, Leyva met a very sudden, painful, and brutal end after he and a small army of loyal gunmen engaged the Mexican Navy in what became a four-hour gun battle.

Navy members rappelled from hovering helicopters to capture Leyva while he sought shelter in a ritzy condominium located within popular tourist destination, Cuernavaca.

Four members of his cartel were gunned down while only one naval responder was killed. Several other Navy members were wounded by grenades thrown by cartel members.

The death of the “Boss of All Bosses” comes at the climax of one of the most violent moments in the history of Mexico. Though 13,000 drug dealers have been silenced since President Calderón took office in December of 2006, the carnage and casualties suffered by average citizens only serves to suggest that there is a great deal of work that has yet to be finished.

The Juarez Cartel, which operates out of the Ciudad de Juarez, still has a vice grip on several parts of several regions within the death riddled nation; the war that rages between the cartel and Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives with 4,100 deaths coming from Juarez alone.

Mexican President, Felipe Calderón

Still, the death of a man that was once one of the most powerful people in the world will serve no viable purpose or particular goal. Ultimately some one else will step up to fill the void, if any, that remains.

The idea of a revolving door that leads one from immense wealth to a timely death is the impetus behind the strategic ideology of many within the United States and Mexican government. Calls for the legalization of prohibited substances such as cocaine, marijuana, and amphetamines are seemingly increasing with the death toll.

Currently, the U.S. is the leading supporter of the Mexican Drug Trade, and has been for years, with nearly 264,000 pounds of cocaine smuggled into the greatest country in the world between 1990 and 2005.

Guzman, though a drug kingpin, made Forbes Magazine's World Billionaires list this year, raking in $1 billion, money made even though he was incarcerated from 1993 to 2001. American government officials are offering $5 million for his capture.

Detroit Facing 50% Unemployment Rate

Friday, December 18th, 2009

As a city that has been under bankruptcy watch for quite some time now, denizens of Detroit were hardly shocked when news broke that their once glorious city currently embroiled in fiscal crisis is on the cusp of becoming a city entrenched in a battle for jobs.

Official records show that the Motor City has an unemployment rate of a little less than 30%, but local officials have are toting a more gloomy figure, saying that the actual unemployment figure puts jobless rates around 50%!

Information utilized by the Bureau of Labor Statistics only makes note of anyone that was recently left off; it does not use information on those that have quit job searching, part-time employees seeking full time jobs, or anyone that is underemployed.

“The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that for the year that ended in September, Michigan's official unemployment rate was 12.6 percent. Using the broadest definition of unemployment, the state unemployment rate was 20.9 percent, or 66 percent higher than the official rate. Since Detroit's official rate for October was 27 percent, that broader rate pushes the city's rate to as high as 44.8 percent.” -Detroit Free Press

Statewide, Michigan leads the nation as the state with the highest rate of joblessness and job loss, with Detroit serving as the city with the highest percentage increase (7.3) of any metropolitan area in the nation.

Tiger Woods Toy Saving Ailing Market In Spite of Public Infidelities

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Only the legend known as Tiger Woods can revive an ailing market while his own personal worth is plummeting faster than a union worker into the Atlantic while wearing cement shoes.

In spite of his many infidelities and what is likely to go down in history as one of the most public and humiliating falls from grace that has ever occurred in the story of this nation known as the United States, Woods can rest well knowing that he still has the support of his fans.

As toy sales plummet, retailers are shocked to find that one of the trendiest and must have items for this Christmas is none other than a miniature figurine of sports first billionaire.

"In the beginning, it was really slow, “said John Orozco, a toy distributor that purchased 44,000 figurines during Thanksgiving. "They were just trickling out of here."

For between ten to twenty dollars, any can own a pint sized version of America's favorite philanderer, produced by legendary sports memorabilia maker, Upper Deck.

I wonder if Elin Nordegren-Woods is going to buy a couple for her independence party? It could make a nice Christmas gift for the kids.

I'm just saying. . .

Unsanitary Restrooms Spell Doom For Milwaukee Gubernatorial Candidate [PICTURES INCLUDED]

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Republican hopefuls looking for a victory in Milwaukee's gubernatorial race are seeing their dreams spiral down the toilet…literally!

In a politically savvy move, Wisconsin's Democratic Party has turned to the internet in an honest-hearted effort to thwart any potential GOP uprising by publicly noting all the GOP's failures within the state, most notably, an obvious disregard to public sanitation as displayed via pictures posted on their website of public facilities inside Milwaukee County Courthouse.

Check out the pics….

Walker, whom has served Milwaukee County as its County Executive for the last eight years, privatized all janitorial work to be done in the county as well as several other government related jobs when he slashed the overall workforce by 20%. Jobs that survived being cut were ultimately outsourced.

Needless to say, his political future is looking quite gloomy. . .
