Update: KFC Pulls Racist Chicken Ad

The Australian TV commercial that shows a white man silencing a rowdy Black crowd with a bucket of fried chicken has been pulled.

As previously reported, a KFC ad shows a man at a cricket game surrounded by a sea of Black fans from the West Indies.

He then looks into the camera and says,

“Need a tip when you’re stuck in an awkward situation?”

Following that he pulls out a bucket of chicken and says,

“Too easy,”

as West Indian fans rush over to eat his fried chicken.

The ad raised eyebrows in America after it hit the net last week. It had run previously in Australia for three weeks without any complaints.

Now with an outcry of racism in the United States, the fast food chain has decided to pull the ad indefinitely.

KFC has since issued a statement saying that while the ad was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, it was not meant to be racist.

“We have been made aware that a KFC commercial being shown on Australian television has apparently caused offense, particularly in the United States, after a copy of the commercial was reproduced online without KFC’s permission. While we believe this lighthearted commercial has been well understood by Australian cricket fans, to avoid the possibility of any further offense being caused by the advertisement either here or online overseas, KFC will cease running the commercial immediately.”

Tongue in cheek? Uhhh…the ad is not funny.

It should’ve have never been made in the first place.
