Lloyd Banks Delivering Sequel to Debut Album

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Sometimes when an artist has begun to lose his/her way and his/her album releases aren't being received by the listeners as well as they used to be, it might be time to start from scratch and reestablish a foundation.

With Raekwon dropping Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. 2 and Capone-N-Noreaga getting ready to deliver The War Report II, sequels are slowly beginning to become a trend as it sets the challenge to be better than the original.

In the process of rebuilding from the downfall after 2006s Rotten Apple, Lloyd Banks has begun to reintroduce himself and recently made the announcement that he will be dropping The Hunger For More 2.

Lloydbanks HFM2!!!  Coming soon!!!

Still riding on the heels of “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley” and the building success from the smash single, Banks looks as though he will be stepping outside (more...)

Clearly, some can get a little hot under the collar when up against their competition as both are trying to find ways to effectively trip up their opposition.

In the spirit of competition, Diddy seems to have ruffled a few feathers after making some harsh comments in regards to his rivals within the liquor industry.

Reported by TMZ, while endorsing his brand of alcohol, the Bad Boy stated that if a person wasn't drinking Ciroc, then he/she might as well have been sipping on (more...)

Cash Money CEO "Slim" Breaks Down His Secret To Success

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

"People see the finished product of us when they see them on the videos but they don't see the hard work that it took to get that point.

We do so much outside of music… helping people and doing things for the community and trying to teach the young how to be business men and business women and steer them the right way.” -Slim, CEO of Cash Money Records

Cash Money's 10-plus year reign on Hip-Hop can't be denied but it's a lil deeper than the bling.

Hip-Hop Wired recently caught up with Ronald “Sugar Slim” Williams, the quiet money man of the click as he discussed expanding the label from a regional shop in the N.O. to competing with the best worldwide and becoming an international label.

Slim also discusses inspiring hope with their movement and that their mission has never been about flaunting but inspiring hope.

Raheem Devaughn "The Love And War Masterpeace" Review

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Hailing from the nation's capital, Raheem Devaughn returns with his thirds studio album The Love and War Masterpeace.

This soulful singer has a beautiful voice that arguably isn't as revered as it should be. His 2005 debut The Love Experience garnered him a fan following of his soulful ballads. Keeping the buzz alive in classic modern day style, in between dropping another album he delved into mixtapes, delivering seven remixing songs old and new in a way only he can.

With The Love And War Masterpeace Devaughn shows his diversity and a little something extra. It's hard to ignore the political ties to the project. An unexpected guest indeed, Dr. Cornel West provides a series of interludes promoting love and co-signing his “Dear brother Raheem Devaughn's” efforts.

The lead single “Bulletproof” was a good choice; catchy and clean enough for radio with help from Ludacris for an old school feel.

A Raheem album wouldn't be complete without touts of sexual prowess and passion, both of which fans have come to know and welcome.

There's “B.O.B.” where the lover taunts that he's more effective than a woman's other means of seduction which according to him can't “Grip your waist and tell you how good you taste”---Things that make you go hmmm. (In a good way)

Microphone is drenched in innuendo as the tricky wordplay artist reflects on his lady friend belting out tunes on his….ahem…microphone a la “Mic Check 1, 2.”

The standout track for the project however is “Nobody Wins A War”, over 7 minutes of music with Bilal, Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, Algebra, Chrisette Michelle, Shelby Johnson, Ledisi, Citizen Cope, Dwele, Chico DeBarge and Rudy Currence.

While it sounds it would be chaotic, the well orchestrated song rings of Devaughn's version of “We Are The World.” Filled with political undertones as the singers unite for the heavy chorus taunting, “Nobody wins a war”---easily providing the peace added into the album's title. Highlight: Hearing a passionate Jill Scott spout off some hot spoken word aimed at the government at the end:

“Your pride is maniacal…..you send OUR children to murder human beings….”

What makes this album so likeable is how easily he goes from being the valiant lover to a vigilante for peace. The balance is effective and not lost on those willing to lend a listening ear.

Regarded in my opinion as an underdog, if Raheem can keep putting together albums like this then surely he'll end up in one of the top spots he deserves.

Former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are visiting the country of Haiti to see the destruction in the country first-hand.

The two were chosen by the President to spearhead fundraising for the embattled country and made a stop in the capital of Port-Au-Prince Monday.

While there the two greeted several Haitians still stranded from January's earthquake and living in tents.

The BBC captured video of the moment, even capturing when George W. Bush shakes hands with a Haitian man and then immediately wipes his hands on Bill Clinton's shirt.
