Speaking with MSNBC's Keith Olbermann he describes the offensive material saying,

“If you look at some of the faxes that I got today, racial slurs, nooses on gallows, and I'm telling you, some very vicious language. This stuff is not all that isolated. It's pretty widespread. I hope it's not too deep."

President Obama Signs Healthcare Reform Bill Into Law [Video]

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

President Barack Obama made history today, signing the healthcare reform bill into law.

His landmark victory comes after 219-212 vote Sunday with no Republican support.

Speaking to a crowd of people, the President said:

“Today after almost a century of trying; today, after over a year of debate; today, after all the votes have been tallied, health insurance reform becomes law in the United States of America."

In another touching moment President Obama introduced Vicki Kennedy, the widow of the late Senator Teddy Kennedy-an advocate for health care reform that unfortunately passed before witnessing this moment.

He also gave praise to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and received praise of his own from Vice President Joe Biden, who congratulated the Commander In Chief saying,

“Mr. President, you've done what generations of not just ordinary, but great men and women have attempted to do. You delivered on a promise, a promise you made to all Americans when we moved into this building.”

Google Search Helps Convict Bank Robber

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

A New York City appeals court has refused to free a man charged with robbing a bank due to a Googled piece of evidence.

Inmate Anthony Bari was convicted in 1995 and sentenced to 13 years for robbing a bank in New York, but after being released in 2008 for just 4 months, Bari was arrested again for allegedly holding up another bank.

At the revocation hearing, they showed Federal Judge Denny Chin surveillance video of a robber decked out in a yellow rain hat similar to one found in the garage at Bari's address.

Before sending Bari back to jail for 36 months, Chin said he thought that convicting Bari on the mere matching yellow hat, would be too much of a coincidence and went to the Internet for confirmation.

"We did a Google search, and you can find...yellow hats like this. But there are also lots of different rain hats, many different kinds of rain hats that one could buy," Chin said.

With the mountain of evidence against Bari and the Google search showing that there were a multitude of yellow rain hats and that the exact hat being in Bari's garage was not a coincidence, federal judges sentenced Bari to serve his 3 years behind bars.

Bari's lawyer later argued that Chin violated federal evidence rules by tooling around on Google.

But the appeals panel said using a Web search to confirm a common sense supposition didn't violate any rules.

"Twenty years ago, to confirm an intuition about a variety of rain hats, a trial judge may have needed to travel to a local department store to survey the rain hats on offer," the panel noted. "Today, a judge need only take a few moments to confirm his intuition by conducting a basic Internet search."

Meet the guerilla marketing genius behind the ever-prevalent Jordan brand, Erin O. Patton. From behind the scenes, Patton was a trailblazer in the fusion of urban niche marketing and pop culture and paved the way for Shaq to “have your back” on behalf of Comcast today.

Patton recently checked in with our sister site The Atlanta Post and discussed his new book "Under The Influence:  Tracing Hip-Hop Generation's Impact On Brands, Sports & Pop Culture."

With his hard work on the verge of finally paying off and the career of Gucci Mane finally about to blow, the rapper was a victim to a major misstep, due to poor decisions, that landed him behind bars.

Jim Jones Releases “The Ghost Of Rich Porter” Mixtape

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

There seems to have been some time of shift in Hip-Hop where mixtapes are looked at as having more significance than actual album releases going from all of the recent pushbacks of numerous artists.

One would come to wonder why an artist places so much time on something that is offered for free and make a bucket, but miss at the free throw line when it's time for the real game to start.

Whatever the case may be, Jim Jones is finally able to bless listeners with his latest mixtape project, The Ghost Of Rich Porter, which has finally dropped today.

"Haunted" feat. Gucci Mane and Sen City

Sporting features from the likes of Gucci Mane, Joell Ortiz, Maino, Shawty Lo, and bringing along the home team with Juelz Santana and others, Jones is looking to continue telling the story of Harlem and the history of where he came from.
