Fashawn Drops Teasers to Upcoming Mixtape “An Ode to Illmatic”

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Going from the music and overall sound being generated from the new generation of artists within Hip-Hop, it's more than clear that some haven't done their homework as it pertains to revisiting classic works by rappers before throwing out their own material.

For West Coast rapper Fashawn, his debut album, Boy Meets World, showed that a 20-year-old, of today, can still craft something with meaning as a young Nas or Prodigy could do back in the day.

Fresh off being inducted into the XXL Freshman Class of 2010, the young rapper is quick at work at his next release, but will first pay homage with his upcoming mixtape, Ode To Illmatic.

Reworking Nas' debut album with a West Coast perspective, the rapper is putting quite a task on his shoulders, but going from what he's already released, he might be just the one to pull it off.

Teen Who Made Racist Wal-Mart Comment Charged Again

Friday, March 26th, 2010

The New Jersey teen charged with taking to a Wal-mart's intercom system and saying, “All Black people leave the store now” has been charged with doing the exact same crime a second time.

As previously reported, the incident took place March 14 at the Washington Township store and a teenager was arrested after bragging about the incident on the Facebook.

Now however Wal-mart staff at the exact same store have given police surveillance footage with audio of the boy saying the same thing around Christmas time.

The police had no idea about the prior incident until they received the footage.

The teen whose identity is being withheld, is described as a 16-year-old boy from Atlantic City.

He's being charged with harassment and bias intimidation for the incident.

Wal-mart has since apologized and later made changes to the phone system to restrict intercom access.

UPDATE: Ice Cube Responds to Jay Rock and the New West

Friday, March 26th, 2010

“I ain't naming names at this time, but I'm adding names.  You let me know if you wanna be on the list.”

As of late, there has been tension between Ice Cube and the new generation of West Coast rappers that initially stemmed from the announcement of Cube's next solo project I Am The West.

Well, Cube was back to his blog recently and addressed the issues and his opinion on all of the new “talent” coming from the Left Coast.

“With that being said, I understand my last few blogs have been talked about in the streets and all over the internet.  I want to make myself clear to all my fans who think I turned by back on the young rappers (more...)
