Black GOP Candidate Calls The President “Buckwheat”

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Corey Poitier, a Black Republican from Florida that's running for U.S Congress, has some people outraged after he gave a speech Monday night and denounced The President calling him “Buckwheat.”

During his speech while downing the passage of the healthcare bill,  Poiter compared the President to the Little Rascals character criticized for being a stereotype saying,

"Listen up, Buckwheat -- this is not how it is done!''

After receiving countless angry emails, Poitier says he's apologized publicly to The President and people offended by his comments.

According to him, people love Buckwheat and the term is his way of calling someone a dummy.

“I wasn't meaning him any harm. Maybe it was a little insensitive. It's a term that my brother and I use. It was kind of a way of saying, 'dummy,' like when I say to my brother, 'Hey, Buckwheat, cut that out.' That's what it was...People love Buckwheat.''

He adds that he was not trying to be offensive or racist.
SMH…don't you have a cabin to get back to uncle?

Shameful.

The L.O.X. Link to Unleash New Freestyle

Friday, March 26th, 2010

With all of the talk about a new album from the rap trinity known as The L.O.X., many may be starting to doubt the actuality of the project coming to the light.

Discussion with Sheek Louch, Jadakiss and Styles P has only led the media in circles as they have touched on the fact that an album is coming, but no details as to exactly when people can expect it or even a teaser track to build anticipation.

Joining Consequence on “Whatever U Want”, the trio has finally linked together to bring a track for the trio alone to lay waste to and show fans they haven't lost a step over Fat Joe's latest.

“Slow Down L.O.X. (You're Killin Em)”

So...did the L.O.X. just DEBO the beat from Joey Crack and take it hostage as their own?  Seems like it.

If this is any indication of what's to come from the rap group, the ten year wait might actually be worth it for New L.O.X. Order.

N.C. School Board Votes In Favor Of Resegregation

Friday, March 26th, 2010

A school board in Raleigh, North Carolina is causing uproar after angry residents say that officials are trying to bring back segregation in schools.

The controversy comes as the Wake County school board reached a 5-4 decision Tuesday to reverse a busing policy aimed at bringing diversity to local schools.

Instead of busing students from across county lines, the buses will now concentrate on areas closer to the schools, areas that are predominantly white.

With the new “community school zone” program, opposition to the idea says that the lack of diversity will cause more schools to be filled with students of lower socioeconomic backgrounds that tend to be Black or Hispanic.

Protestors were heard outside of school board meetings chanting “Hey ho, hey ho, resegregation has got to go.”

State NAACP Chief William Barber was quoted saying that the school board has “racist attitudes” after the chairman of the board referred to people against the ruling as “animals of the cage.”

Speaking further with the Associated Press, Barber says that the implication to desegregate the schools is wrong morally, legally and economically.

"It's morally wrong. It's legally wrong. It's economically wrong. Your press to go backward will only serve to intensify our moral, political and legal fight to go forward. We will never go back."

The busing policy has been in effect for three decades.
SMH…if it's not racism then what was the point of reversing a busing policy that's been working for 30 years?

Elementary School Students Charged With Sexual Assault of Autistic Girl

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Three Florida elementary school students are being charged as juveniles after police say they confined an 11-year-old autistic girl to a bathroom and forced her to perform sexual acts.

The three male students attend Norland Elementary School in Miami Gardens.

Police say an 11-year-old boy forced the girl to her knees and made her perform oral sex while two boys, aged 13 and 11 acted as lookouts outside the restroom.

Police also report that when the girl tried to escape, the two lookouts "attempted to defeat the victim's attempt to escape the locked bathroom by grabbing and pushing her with the purpose of keeping her confined.”

The girl suffers from Aspergers's syndrome, a mild form of autism.

Speaking with KFOR, the victim's mother says that she doesn't understand the mentality of the accused and that her daughter is“very aware” of what happened to her.

"I don't understand how an eleven-year-old would think like that," the victim's mother said. She continued saying her daughter was "very aware of what happened to her."

She also adds that she thought her child would be safe at school.

“Two places your children should be safe: home and school. That should be a safe haven for them.''

The boys have not been taken into police custody.

SMH....where did they learn all this?

Obama Signs Order On Abortion Funding Limitations For New Health Care Bill

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

After passing the historic but yet still controversial Health Care Reform bill, President Obama is making sure to keep his promise to ensure that federal government funds would not be used to pay for elective abortion procedures.

According to the Associated Press, the ceremonial signing occurred in the Oval Office in the presence of a small group of anti-abortion Democratic lawmakers who had extracted the commitment over the weekend. The amendment stipulates that individuals who receive federal subsidies to purchase insurance may purchase abortion coverage, but must do so by writing a separate check from personal funds. Obama's executive order commits the administration to issuing regulations making sure that personal and federal funds are kept separate.

Obama, who openly supports abortion rights, issued the executive order as Senate Democrats drove toward final passage of a second health care bill, drafted to supplement the first by enhancing benefits for seniors with high prescription drug costs and for lower-to-middle income families who cannot afford the cost of insurance.

The principal of the new law would expand health care to 32 million who lack it while cracking down on the insurance industry and cutting federal deficits by an estimated $138 billion over a decade. Most of the estimated $940 billion cost of the bill would pay for assistance to help families with annual incomes of up to $88,000 pay for insurance, although small businesses would also receive subsidies as in incentive to offer coverage to their employees.

The two bills combined call for nearly $1 trillion in higher taxes and Medicare cuts over 10 years, provisions that sparked strong opposition from congressional Republicans who voted against the bill.

The higher taxes coupled with Americans being required to purchase insurance, or face penalties if they refused is at the heart of the debate amongst many Americans both right and left wing a like; as many are citing the “must have” stipulation as unconstitutional.

In addition to Health Care, the President also signed the second bill on domestic policy, which stripped banks and other private insurers of their ability to originate loans for students allowing direct government lending. The bill which passed the House on Sunday appeared in the Senate with as many as 57 votes in hand for its approval.

The government's savings would raise the maximum amount needy students could receive in Pell Grants, and pump about $2.6 billion over a decade into historically black and Hispanic colleges adversely affecting lending giants Sallie Mae as well as large financial institutions such as Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America which could result in the loss of billions in revenue.

Obama's participation as president would be contingent on his getting re-elected in 2012, since the exchanges won't be up and running until 2014.
