Former MLB Pitcher Dwight Gooden Arrested For Driving Under The Influence

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Former New York Mets pitcher Dwight Gooden has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of an accident and crashing into two vehicles with a child in the car.

According to authorities, the former Major League Baseball star was also charged with child endangerment and other motor vehicle violations at the time of his arrest after causing an accident Tuesday (March 23) morning.

Gooden, 45, was released on his own recognizance until a municipal court hearing.

Gooden, who has publicly battled with alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, had an attorney.

Gooden, nicknamed Doc Gooden and Dr. K because of his impeccable strikeout numbers early in his career, helped lead the Mets to a World Series title in 1986 and another National League East crown in '88, and he also was a member of the championship Yankees teams of 1996 and 2000.

Eventually he served as a senior vice president with the minor league Newark Bears baseball team, which plays in the Atlantic League before leaving in November 2009.

"He did great things while he was here," said Tom Cetnar, the Bears' senior vice president. "We're very saddened by the reports we're hearing. We don't have any details on what happened. Doc did right by us and the city of Newark."

Although being regarded as one of the best pitchers in the MLB, Gooden suffered off the field with a public battle with drugs and alcohol. Over the past decade Gooden has been arrested multiple times for drug related offenses as well as completed several stints in rehab.

Facebook Blamed For Rise In Syphillis

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Experts from across the pond in Britian are releasing reports that Facebook may be to blame for sudden rise in Syphillis.

According to Britain's The Daily Telegraph, The Sun and Daily Mail, health experts are finding that people are using the social media website to contact and have sex with multiple partners for casual sexual experiences.

Professor Peter Kelly, the head of Public Health for NHS tells The Sun that he's seen a rise in the disease since the website's become more popular.

I don't get the names of people affected, just figures. And I saw that several of the people had met sexual partners through these sites. Social networking sites are making it easier for people to meet up for casual sex. There is a rise in syphilis because people are having more sexual partners than 20 years ago and often do not use condoms."

Members of the Facebook staff are refuting those claims however calling them ridiculous and exaggerating.

Andrew Noyes, a spokesperson for Facebook released a statement denying the health experts' findings to TechCrunch saying,

“While it makes for interesting headlines, the assertions made in newspaper reports that Facebook is responsible for the transmission of STDs are ridiculous, exaggerate the comments made by the professor, and ignore the difference between correlation and causation. As Facebook's more than 400 million users know, our Web site is not a place to meet people for casual sex - it's a place for friends, family and coworkers to connect and share.”

Connect and share indeed….hmmmmm.

UPDATE: Joe Budden Holding “The Great Escape” Until Issues Are Resolved With Amalgam

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

"I decide I'm not handing in Great Escape...

I told them they needed to start paying these producers with that other [$60,000] before we start losing records (this is back when we were trying to “clear” everything up)."

It is becoming more evident that whether an artist is dealing with a mainstream or an independent label, the same politics exists when dealing with any record label in general.

Asher Roth Serves "Seared Foie Gras With Quince And Cranberry" Mixtape

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen, first and foremost, don't feel bad if pronouncing the title is an issue as most are finding it be quite the task.

With that aside, Asher Roth returns to the music world with the drop of his mixtape Seared Foi Gras With Quince And Cranberry.

Since dropping his debut album Asleep In the Bread Aisle, Roth has been heard every now and then, but has remained remotely quiet in relation to solo releases.

Partnering up with the likes of Talib Kweli and group Pac Div, the rapper is looking to come back in full effect.
