A woman in Portsmouth, Virginia has been arrested for using her lottery winnings to start a major drug ring.
According to a report by WMUR-TV Paula Cahill was the winner of a $100,000 lottery jackpot ticket in July and a few months later was busted for using the winnings to start a drug operation.
According to reports, Cahill was busted by an undercover after trying to purchase $8000 worth of the prescription drug Oxycontin. After obtaining a warrant, police raided Cahill’s apartment and found large amounts of cocaine and Adderrall.
“She was somebody we were looking at for distributing drugs in our community,” Captain Corey MacDonald said in the interview. “After the bust we obtained a warrant and that’s where we found the drugs ready for distribution.”
It is believed that Cahill has connections through out the New England states including Maine.
Cahill was arrested and held on $25,000 bond.
