Wisconsin Man Posts “No Negros Allowed” Sign On Door To Business [Video]
A Wisconsin man with plans to open a gentleman’s club in the Milwaukee area is in hot water because of one of his signs.
Not a neon sign showing scantly dressed woman dancing on a pole, but one that says, “No Negros Allowed.”
Mark Prior plans on opening his club, in a building next to the Abbotsford city hall and library but he doesn’t plan on letting blacks in.
“I’m going to stick to my guns because I think I have the right as a business owner to reject service to anyone. It’s not all the black people there are just a few bad ones,” says Prior.
Prior posted the sign after he says he had some problems with black people in the past and needed to make a policy against them.
Under federal and state law, it is illegal for a businesses open to the public to deny patrons based on race. That wont stop Prior from trying.
“If I’ve got a problem with you it’s going to be on the front of my store,” says Prior.
He has since moved the sign inside do to the number of complaints. But if he keeps true to his racist mandate, according Dr. Selika Ducksworth-Lawton, an African American historian at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the second he opens his business, he’ll be in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
