Lupe Fiasco was in his native Chicago to chop it up with Tony Sculfield and the Morning Riot earlier today. During his visit, the Chicago MCmentioned how surprised he was to hear Pete Rock‘s strong words about against his new single, “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Here).”
Fiasco claimed that he (actually, his reps) reached out to the legendary producer for his blessings prior to releasing the track, which samples the classic “T.R.O.Y. (They Reminisce Over You).” “That was a little unexpected seeing as we already reached out to him,” said Lupe. Seems like this controversy is just getting started.
