Sports Epidemic: 10 NFL Players Who Committed Suicide [PHOTOS]

NFL players from the past, and present are in need of help, whether they know it or not. Unlike other figures in the spotlight, the mental health of professional players isn't always looked at until it's too late.

Over the weekend, 25-year-old Jovan Belcher, linebackers for the Kansas City  Chiefs, took his own life, just after killing his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins. Since the only person who knows exactly what led to the murder-suicide is Belcher, speculation behind his motive will never be fully confirmed. Reports surfaced stating that the couple argued over the care of their 3-month-old daughter, and Perkins returning late from a Trey Songz concert Friday (Nov. 30).

Belcher's family and friends have been left confused by both deaths, and are in the  midst of trying to put together whatever pieces possible to get some kind of answers.

No matter what was going through his mind at the time, Belcher is sadly not alone in being an NFL player who took his own life.
