DJ Mustard has come a long way since being introduced as YG’s DJ and producer. The Compton native is now a sought-after beat masters skilled in crafting ratchet hits most notably for the likes of 2 Chainz (“I’m Different“) and Tyga (“Rack City”).

Last fall Complex.com named Mustard one of its “25 New Producers to Watch Out For,” and today, he’s aligned with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. “I signed a management contract,” he tells Hip-Hop Wired. Under the direction of industry executive Jay Brown, Mustard’s RN deal is poised to strengthen his brand. “I did it [signed with the Roc] so I can do bigger stuff than what I’m already doing. It was just connecting the dots.”

Without dropping too many details, Mustard revealed that his next songs will be a remix performed by a female artist during this year’s BET Awards Sunday (June 30). “She’s one of the biggest singers in the world,” he said (hint, it’s not Beyoncé).

On the heels of the Roc nation news, YG announced a deal with Young Jeezy’s CTE imprint. Turns out, joining forces with Jeezy  is not unlike Mustard’s move. “He’s just helping him out,” Mustard explained of Jeezy’s roll.”Just like I’m with Nation, so it’s cool.”

Aside from solo stuff, Mustard wrapped up music for  Robin Thicke, and is prepping work for YG’s Welcome to Bompton debut, and Tee Fli’s mixtape.
