The Brooklyn Nets are 10-3 since Jason Collins joined the fold and great success makes them even more popular in their local community. Players Andrei Kirilenko, Marcus Thornton, and Marquis Teague recently participated in the second annual urban art competition and not only enriched the lives of all the youth present, they also tested their finesse skills with a paintbrush, opposed to a finger roll.

Global Artists Coalition is a non-profit extension of Hip Hop USA and alongside the Brooklyn Nets Assist program, they helped local artists express their talent within Hip-Hop’s mighty culture.

All the participants on hand got the opportunity to design Brooklyn Nets themed basketballs and custom sneakers, where the winners were awarded an assortment of goods courtesy of the thriving ball club. The event transpired on Tuesday, March 18 at Luntey Commons, LIU Brooklyn, 1 University Plaza. It was even catered by one of the Nets’ sponsors, Baked In Brooklyn.

Check out the gallery for pics of the event in full. It’s always noble to see ballers spread love off the court.
