Stephen Colbert Will Replace David Letterman On The Late Show

David Letterman recently announced that he plans to retire in 2015. With much speculation on who would be his replacement on The Late Show, CBS just announced today (April10) that Stephen Colbert will be replacing the late night funny man.

“Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” said Colbert in a press release. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.”

He added, “I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”

Colbert signed a five-year agreement with CBS and will end his Comedy Central show The Colbert Report and assumed the reins of The Late Show after Letterman’s proper retirement.

The end of an era, for Colbert and Letterman, ushers in a new one. Letterman has been showing love to a number of Hip-Hop acts lately, including Lauryn Hill, Killer Mike and Nas.
