Maseo Of De La Soul’s Son Drafted By St. Louis Rams in 2014 NFL Draft [VIDEO]

Michael Sam isn’t the only new St. Louis Ram who will be dominating team headlines this upcoming NFL season. The once dominant franchise scored a couple of other notable draft picks including Tre Mason, the son of De La Soul rapper Maseo.

The 20-year-old Auburn running back was selected as the 75th pick by the Rams and fittingly chose “Me, Myself & I” as his introductory theme song upon receiving the good news. He was also a member of this year’s Auburn Tigers squad that fell short to the BCS Champion Florida State Seminoles by just three points–in an instant classic thriller.

NFL analysts were quick to point out that Mason’s scoring ability was a non-issue (he rushed for 195 yards in the aforementioned BCS Championship Game; set SEC Championship records of 304 yards and four touchdowns in the 2013 SEC Championship Game against Sam’s Missouri Tigers team) but he needs work on his defensive rush protection. As one announcer put it, “the next time he blocks someone in pass pro will be the first time.” Ouch.

Equally excited is Tre’s new teammate, Maurice Alexander, who was picked up in the fourth round of the draft with the 110th overall pick. According to Fox Sports, Alexander was working as a janitor at the Rams’ Edward Jones Dome two years ago after he was kicked off his Utah State for blessing a teammate with the fade at a party.

The 6’2″, 220-pound safety eventually returned to the team in 2013 and impressed scouts when he ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash at this year’s NFL Combine.

Check out Mason’s big moment in the video below and peep the next page to see Alexander’s. The Rams are long overdue for a comeback and this year’s draft could prove to be the turning point.
