Whoopi Goldberg Tells Women “Do Not Put Your Hands On Anybody” [Video]

The View‘s Whoopi Goldberg weighed in on the recent comments made by ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith regarding the Ray Rice domestic dispute case. Goldberg seemingly supported Smith’s thoughts, which he has since apologized for, adding that women shouldn’t hit anyone.

Goldberg has spoken about the issue of domestic violence between men and women before, most notably during the clash between Jay Z and Solange Knowles. However, Goldberg’s ire regarding the Rice case stemmed from the fact that the football player’s wife struck the first blow. Goldberg shared her controversial stance on The View Monday, and was met with criticism.

“If you hit somebody, you cannot be sure you are not going to get hit back,” said Goldberg. “You have to teach women, do not put your hands on anybody. You have to teach women, do not live with this idea that men have this chivalry thing still with them, don’t assume that that’s still in place.”

Goldberg continued, saying a woman shouldn’t be surprised if she hits a man that she will be hit back. Goldberg did try to clarify her point, stating that a person putting their hands on anyone is cause to catch a knuckle fade. Co-host Jenny McCarthy, and guest co-host Sunny Hostin weren’t amused by Goldberg’s opinions on domestic violence, however.
