A sharp turn has been taken in the Tamir Rice shooting investigation, and purveyors who seek justice for the slain 12-year-old at the hands of a cop, won’t like the route it is heading in.

Nevermind the fact that the cop–gumshoe Tim Loehmann–had previously been declared “unfit” for duty or the 911 dispatcher who deployed the responding officers failed to alert them off all the pertinent details. According to a pair of outside investigators; one retired FBI agent and one prosecutor from Denver; the shooting of the teen who was out playing with a toy gun was a reasonable measure for a threat they determined to be just as reasonable.

“We are not reaching any conclusions from these reports,” Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty said in a statement to the Associated Press. “The gathering of evidence continues, and the grand jury will evaluate it all.”

On November 22, 2014, video surveillance showed the 26-year-old Loehmann and another officer, 46-year-old Frank Garmback, pulling up on Rice and within moments, the boy was dead. The Rice family lawyer responded with the clear outlier, stating “dodge the simple fact that the officers rushed Tamir and shot him immediately without assessing the situation in the least. Reasonable jurors could find that conduct unreasonable. But they will never get the chance because the prosecutor is working diligently to ensure that there is no indictment and no accountability.”

Kimberly A. Crawford, the retired FBI agent who examined the case regardless, maintained that Tamir’s constitutional rights were not violated, leading us to believe anyone suspected to carry a firearm in a suspicious manner should be gunned down on sight. In the meantime, watch the video placed below.
