Police in Des Moines, Iowa have arrested 46-year-old Scott Greene, who was wanted in connection to an ambush slaying of a pair of police officers on Wednesday (Nov. 2) in the suburb section of Urbandale. Greene has a record of run-ins with police in times past, and just had an encounter with cops just two weeks ago.

NBC News reports:

A suspect was captured Wednesday morning in the “ambush-style attacks” of two Des Moines-area police officers slain while sitting in their patrol cars, Iowa authorities said.

Police apprehended Scott Michael Greene, 46, in nearby Dallas County amid a manhunt several hours after the early-morning shootings, Des Moines police Lt. Chris Scott told NBC News. He was taken to a hospital awaiting charges.

“We’re very relieved right now that he’s in custody and that they were no other police officers hurt or civilians,” Sgt. Paul Parizek, a Des Moines police spokesman, said at a news conference.

The Des Moines Register added in their report details of Greene’s past as the case continues to unfold. In 2014, Greene battled with Urbandale police once in the spring and summer of that year. With the earlier charge, Greene was resistant to police searching him for weapons after a routine stop. Two days later, Greene was arrested for threatening to and racially harassing a Black resident of the Urbandale apartment complex he lived in. Greene pleaded guilty to both charges.

There are also videos of a man with the same name as the suspect that looked to be forcibly removed from a football game at Urbandale High after he waved a confederate flag in the bleachers. The man videotaped his encounter with police, stating that his constitutional rights were being violated.

Greene is still named as a suspect and has not been officially charged.
