Wale - Groundhog Day

J. Cole set the Hip-Hop world on fire with news of his surprise album, then threw gas on it when he offered rhymes critical of Kanye West and Wale on a song called “False Prophets.” The latter has already responded in kind with a song called “Groundhog Day.”

“I’m heavily flawed, but far from a false prophet,” says Wale on the intro of the Jake One-produced cut.

Then he gets to spittin’: “The most highly underrated of my generation, behind them crooked smiles niggas neglect to embrace me.”

The rest of verse covers everything from being “lost at Interscope,” having suicidal thoughts and being misunderstood by the press.

There’s a lot of rewind-worthy material on here, so maybe the real talk from Cole got Wale extra-focused?

So be it, so long as the culture gets bars.

Listen to “Groundhog Day” below.
