Philly’s Hip-Hop scene is much different than most cities, because it’s an amalgamation of MCs that possess a nuanced consciousness, despite how they angle their rhymes. Proof can be heard in this visual for Ryshon Jones’ “Why You Wanna Be Perfect.”

Inspired by Jones’ younger sister, whose confidence he admires, the song places a scope on women who are on the opposite end of the spectrum. “Don’t try hard to be what you already are to me,” is the line that best describes the rapper’s disposition on the Ten Twenty-Six-produced record. The clip dons scenes of Jones video chatting a range of women who suffer from being vanity slaves.

“Why You Wanna Be Perfect” appears on Jones’ latest project Hope Is A Dangerous Thing, which listeners can find here. Expect a gang of content, including a short documentary about his latest body of work, from the wordsmith in the coming weeks.
