Oklahoma Senator and Trump Campaign chair Ralph Shortey was caught in a hotel room with a young boy. Police are recommending charges.

On March 9, officers in Moore, Okla. were contacted for a “welfare check” at a local motel. When they arrived they found Senator Shortey in a room with a 14-year old boy with the smell of marijuana in the air.

The boy’s father put out the call for his son’s whereabouts after he disappeared. According to local reports, the boy has a history of soliciting himself on Craiglist as well a history of drug abuse.

Police say that their initial knocks on the motel door were unanswered. But after more knocking, a voice asked why there were there. When police threatened to knock down the door, the minor opened the door and walked out. Reports say that Shortey was found standing behind the door. When asked why he was there, he said he was only there to “hangout with a friend.”

An employee at the motel said that Shortey checked into the hotel at 12:20 a.m. asking for a room with two beds.

After an investigation, police charged Shortey with soliciting prostitution of a minor, prostitution within 1,000 feet of church and transporting purpose of prostitution.

Shortey acted as the state chair of President Donald Trump’s campaign during the primary elections.
