Boosie has christened himself his generation’s Tupac, and he’s stamping it with a new double-album titled BooPac.

In an interview with DJ Vlad, the Baton Rouge rapper revealed that he feels his generation’s Tupac because his generation doesn’t have one.

He explains his stance by saying, “I’m my generation’s 2Pac. A lotta people didn’t grow up on 2Pac. Lotta people didn’t grow up on Biggie. Those who love that kind of music grew up on me.”

He does have a point. By the time Boosie became a Southern Hip-Hop household name, Tupac had been dead for a decade. His ability to pour emotions ranging from love to anger into his music resonated with fans in way many hadn’t seen since Tupac passed. Add to that his real life drama and prison time, the ‘Pac comparisons were always there.

Now he seems to finally be taking complete ownership of them by titling his next album BooPac. Yes, it sounds a little weird, but the way he explains it, it sounds more like homage than exploitation.

“I know it’s gon’ be a big ol’ thang, but it’s in my heart,” he said. “That’s what I want to do. I’m naming it BooPac. It’s a double disc, 26 songs.”

He continues by saying that he feels ‘Pac’s music is forgotten about now and he wants to bring that feeling back.

“That’s one reason I’m [doing it]. Another reason is the Pac music is forgotten about now. That real music that touch you, that feel like he was brought into yo household witchu like he was yo cousin. That music is forgotten about right now.”

The BooPac announcement comes just days after Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave revealed that he was dropping a mixtape titled NuPac.
