Another week at 9 Mag with Black Ink Crew Chicago attempting to [not so carefully] navigate the mess between Ryan and Kat. Van takes the reins this week and makes an executive decision to bring Katrina back to the shop.
Which actually isn’t a bad idea from the financial aspect but there’s that whole issue of her beef with the owner…
Junior talks to Lily about her part in his fight with Plug at Kat’s birthday party the night before and she really doesn’t seem to get it. “The fact that Lily doesn’t understand how f*cked up this is, that just shows her maturity level.” That’s right Junior! Ol’ girl may be the least empathetic person on the planet, cut your losses.

Van runs the idea of bringing Kat back to the shop by his coworkers as if he has the authority to do so. His “little big man” complex is truly comical, but we aren’t mad at this latest idea. “That sh*t felt like the old 9 Mag days [at the party]. The energy was there…,” he starts. “So I’m thinking about inviting her back to work officially.”
Another interesting tidbit about Van is this unyielding bitterness he has against Ryan. Even when they seem to be doing okay. He may have his reasons but sometimes it just sounds like hate. In his confessional, he shares: “Ryan never really cared about the future of 9 Mag. He only cares about himself and I’m here, picking up all the slack and taking care of business.”
Everyone agrees that Kat should come back “home,” everyone but Phor. Who, as we all know, has had his own sexual past with Kat. He says he’s afraid that the move would bring conflict in the shop, but he’s outnumbered. Later on on the episode, he goes back and snitches on everybody, like the lamest kid in class. “She already been in the shop tattooing,” he tells Ryan over the phone. “I told everyone it was a bad idea but everybody leaning on Kat side.” Wuss.
Meanwhile Kat is still trying to “hash things out” with Ryan to no avail. We get it, girl. You may be wanting to salvage whatever longstanding friendship you had before, but you’re not always going to get an apology or even acknowledgement of wrongdoing from someone who’s trying to sweep things under the rug.
Don and Ashley host a gender reveal party for their baby. Ash gushes on about wanting a baby girl to put in “baby ‘dowel’ outfits” and so on. But when it’s revealed that she’ll be having another boy, she stomps around (literally!), shoves past Don and tears up outside of the venue. Until Don pulls around the building with a new Benz truck for her, then she’s all smiles. Lawd.

At the event, Phor asks Nikki if she’d be down to have his baby, like a damn lunatic. She laughs in his face. “No. Why would I want a kid right now? I’m young. Body banging…” He sulks and says, “Don’t frown up like you don’t love a n*gga though.” Didn’t you just throw a towel in this girl’s face after she picked that dumb ass fight with you in Cabo? Stop this, Phor.
Charmaine finally has her time in the spotlight and on the first day of filming, she fails miserably. Caught up in the look of it, she brought a ‘glam squad’ and didn’t bother to remember her lines. Tragic.

Ryan finally breaks Rachel’s icy disposition with a throwback to one of their first dates in a horse-drawn carriage. Eh.
When he finally shows up at the shop after a few weeks, Ryan walks in like The Punisher. He immediately checks Don for citing the awkwardness of the room but Ryan could never handle Angry Don so he jumps into the main issue. “So she work back here now?,” he says, nodding towards Kat. “This ain’t home for you!”
That was all he had to say before Kat was fed up with his shenanigans and told the whole truth. We knew it was more than a kiss. Ryan’s crazy. “Man up,” Katrina hollers. “If I didn’t come out with this sh*t, you would’ve been still tryna f*ck me on the low and make me your side b*tch!”
“Talk about how you ate my p*ssy all summer and how I kissed your d*ck once. Talk about that too!”
This has Ryan silenced and running toward the door. As always.

And what’s insane is that it seemed like ol’ girl was trying to spare everyone the details but he was hoping to make her look crazy. And how long is anyone going to let someone else call them a liar? Oh well. As Don says in his confessional, “Right now, my n*gga’s in a deep black hole and he can’t get out. It’s too slippery.”
Catch up with us next week as we follow up on these folks from Chicago.
