Rapper "Swag" Busted In Massive Drug Rings Says He Acquired Wealth From Lottery [Video]

Rapper Swag Busted For Running Massive Oxycontin/Drug Ring

Washington state rapper Jevon “Swag” Lawson, 36, was busted for allegedly running a major illicit drug operation just outside the city of Seattle.

The rapper who collaborated with Jim Jones for his 2010 single “Swag N” has been charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking and along with other charges in connection with a 2005 robbery of a Wells Fargo bank that raked in $40,000.

Swag, who started the indie label Paper Route records in 2009, allegedly became the target of an investigation in 2007, when a confidential informant told authorities that he bought rock cocaine from a house co-owned by Lawson.

Through their investigation, police allege that Lawson has been selling rock cocaine in the Seattle area since 2004 and that he switched his hustle up to OxyContin when he realized there was more money in prescription pills. During the investigation, agents claim that informants purchased hundreds of pills from the rapper, who was known for carrying around large quantities of cash.

When police raided multiple apartments Swag rented, they found more than $150,000 in cash, mostly stores in the freezers. Police claim he was in the process of acquiring up to 20,000 pills for $460,000 in cash. Authorities also say Lawson has been linked to two men who were arrested in July for the murder of an undercover police officer in Arizona during a marijuana deal gone wrong.

Lawson’s financial escapades are well documented. According to the Everett Daily Herald, the rapper attempted to pass through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with $15,000 in cash wrapped inside a Louis Vuitton carry-on bag. He reportedly paid Jim Jones $100,000 in cash to perform for a concert and another $40,000 to Juvenile to perform at a local restaurant.

Lawson is being held without bond, and is currently awaiting trial.

In the video below (filmed before his arrest), Swag claims he acquired his wealth from winning a Lottery scratch off ticket. And labeling himself the “Don King of rap” says he offered 15K a piece to Murda Mook and Serius Jones to battle a local rapper, but the two turned the money down.
