Lupe Fiasco Defends Presidential Opposition

Lupe Maintains Obama Critique

After harsh lyrics towards President Obama on a song off his Lasers album  raised the eyebrows of many in the Black community, Lupe Fiasco is not only keeping his stance, he is defending it.

In a recent interview, Fiasco pointed out that his problem is not so much with Obama the person, but with government policy period, which he feels Obama has done nothing to change.

“I was never on the bandwagon of Obama like that, because I’m not on the bandwagon for the American Government, the Federal Government, says the rapper.

It’s not all 100 percent evil, but it does a whole lot to not make you think that. The economical policies that are instigated really makes you think that the American government is a bunch of evil bastards. So just because you’re black you’re still representing that government, and when Obama came into office he enacted the same policies that we would critique other presidents for.

He adds,

“The people who are on your economic team and determine the economic polices for the rest of us are the same people who ran those financial institutions, the same people who were corrupt and could possibly face criminal charges, but he’s the head of your economic thing. Honestly, what the Fawk is that? That’s what you call a WTF. So I think the critiques are poignant.”

He also says people are falsely giving Obama praise as the first President, pointing out that Robert Mugabe (President of Zimbabwe) has that distinction.

“I love Obama, and I love the fact that it’s a black president of the United States of America, but he’s not the first Black president, says Fiasco. “Robert Mugabe is a black president too so let’s not get to talking about precedents being set. The fact that he’s Black and American, that’s different. But that it’s anything special beyond that, that just because of that everything’s going to be a utopia, then that’s not true.”

Lupe raised eyebrows when he spit,

Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist, Gaza Strip was getting burned, Obama didn’t say sh-t, That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either…,” on the track “Things I Never Said” on his recently released LP Lasers.

Fiasco confirms the songs lyrics saying, “I haven’t voted for anybody, for that matter. The American federal government, the American system, America’s foreign policy is something I can’t [support]. When you vote for that person, you vote for that.”

Lupe’s long delayed third studio album Lasers hit shelves Tuesday (March 8).

He sounds like an ignorant a-s. Nobody ever said Obama was the first black president of any country ever.. people know there have been hundreds of black presidents and prime ministers in Africa and the Carribean long before Obama was elected in America, dumb A$$.

  • Lupe is right and im glad someone from our community actually has the heart to step up and speak some truth about the ‘Messiah’ himself. Obama has gotten so many passes from the Black community that its both sad and sickening. Yeah he likes rap and plays basketball, so the fact that Black unemployment is at an all time high and not getting better should be overlooked? 1% of the world’s oil comes from Libya and the flow hasnt even been interrupted yet….but prices are goin thru the roof and thats the xcuse being used. People gotta think for they damn selves at some point.

He’s probably one of those people who speak on politics and the world at-large but does not even vote. From this interview it sounds like he has never voted. I like Lupe but this is something that is making me question whether his conscious rap style is more of a gimmick and speaking out when the 2012 election is around the corner just to sell some CDs. Where were you during the Bush years, I don’t remember you speaking up. I know Obama not a messiah but we don’t realize we are limited as people. You have a bunch of republican who refuse to work and a bunch of democrats who are too much of a punk to say anything so it’s Obama fault. We as voters gave them there job, usually when you don’t work the boss fires you. Why aren’t we doing the same?

Technically Obama is the first Black President given the fact that the U.S is the first country to have a president period. That means he’s the first original black president. Presidents from other countries dont count.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion, but get your facts straight. As a older person who went throught the civil rights movement,(still going through) you must remember that Pres.Obama inherited this miss from Bush! You don’t vote so u have no say in what goes on, you r to lazy and by your name I don’t think u r from here so LEAVE! young people like u who didn’t go through the struggle but benefir from it make me sick grow the f–k up!
