An estimated 60,000 protesters walked the streets of New York City on Saturday (December 13) to combat the racial injustice exhibited in the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases. REVOLT were among the crowd, and had a chance to speak with respective Hip-Hop legends Nas and Russell Simmons.

Not everyone was fortunate enough to make it out to this year’s TriBeca Film Festival where Nas’ Time Is Illmatic made its grand premiere. Luckily, Showtime’s picked up the 74-minute film and is slated to air it this coming Friday.

Nas and Hennessy continue their beautiful business agreement with the release of a new commercial that fully realizes the vision that the legendary rhymer’s debut album, Illmatic set out to accomplish.

Nas’ daughter, Destiny Jones, may not have caught the rapping bug from pops, but his influence on her upcoming lipstick line, Lipmatic, is apparent.

Kool & The Gang songs have transcended several musical generations and as most Hip-Hop fans were likely unaware that they were enjoying “their parents music.”

Nas captured the attention of the Hip-Hop nation with his 1994 debut album, Illmatic. The album continues to inspire creativity, as evidenced by an upcoming Hip-Hop theater piece that draws on the potent lyrics from the classic release.

Would Nas have rapped over a Dilla beat if the late, great producer was still alive? No matter, that’s the case on “The Season.”

Nasir “Nas” Jones has to be feeling awesome right now. The Queensbridge veteran is enjoying a career upswing coupled with the 20th anniversary celebration of his debut album, Illmatic. And now, a mixtape in honor of the Time Is Illmatic documentary has just been released to the public.

Over the summer, veteran rapper Nas appeared on a panel discussion in California to discuss his appearance on PBS’ Finding Your Roots program with Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. The episode aired last night, and the Queensbridge representative took in the jewels he learned with the Harvard professor.

What’s beef? That famous question was once posed by the late, great Notorious B.I.G. in efforts to really outline the seriousness of a feud on wax. Unfortunately, the legendary MC was gunned down before he could lyrically reconcile with any of his foes that he had serious issues with. Mainly Tupac Shakur.
