Erykah Badu Wants To Be A Midwife
Could you imagine having Erykah Badu in a delivery room with you as you give labor, or witness labor be given, to your children? Now you can. The music icon recently shared that she’s been interested in midwifery after giving birth to her son, Seven and helping a friend through a rigorous labor.
“When I saw the baby, I cried. I knew what I was supposed to do with my life,” she says in PEOPLE magazine’s latest issue.
Badu works with mothers a month before the birth, also comforting them during labor and aiding in relaxation. The singer even goes as far as sharing a home video of her giving birth.
“No one feels threatened by my celebrity,” she says. “It’s important they see I did not cry and scream. They’re amazed they don’t have to be afraid.”
