Shocking! Mexican Woman Decapitated Over Internet Postings

Marisol Macias Castaneda, a newsroom manager for the Nuevo Laredo newspaper Primera Hora, was found with her head on a stone separated from her body in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico for what she posted on a social networking site.

The Zetas are the drug cartel that police believe is responsible for this killing and others.

“Nuevo Laredo en Vivo and social networking sites, I’m The Laredo Girl, and I’m here because of my reports, and yours,” the message read. “For those who don’t want to believe, this happened to me because of my actions, for believing in the army and the navy. Thank you for your attention, respectfully, Laredo Girl…ZZZZ.”

Earlier this month, a man and a woman were found hanging dead from an overpass in Nuevo Laredo with a similar message threatening “this is what will happen” to internet users.

Residents of the city post on social networks about drugs and violence hoping that they will remain anonymous since journalists that report the news are usually harassed, sometimes kidnapped and murdered.

It seems like the Zetas have the city locked down, would you get rid of your profile on the Nuevo Laredo en Vivo?
