Just before the A$AP Mob hit the Masquerade in Atlanta, Maurice Garland caught up with Rocky to chop it up about a few things. The Mob has been welcomed all over the U.S. during their tour, selling out each venue they’ve performed in. When asked who Rocky’s studied as far as stage performances, he mentioned some interesting names.

“I’ve gotten tips from Elvis Presley, Jimmy Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, myself, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and I’ve even watched some of the footage from the ‘Watch The Throne‘ concert since I couldn’t make it out…I heard they were on shark tanks, which is real prolific.”

Rocky also spoke on being named after Hip-Hop great Rakim, and whether or not he’d name his future child after a rapper. “Hell No! I’m gonna name my son Bill Gates…I’m aiming high!,” said Rocky, before continuing, “It’s an honor and a pleasure to be named after a legend like him. God bless him, and God bless my parents. I love them all!”

The Harlem MC also shared some information he got from one of the current greats in the game. “Kanye told me that s**t [the Grammy’s] don’t matter, they don’t mean nothin’, you don’t need it… At the end of the day, you’ll see what’s really important as you get higher and higher.”

As long as Rocky continues to sell out shows across the country he’ll have plenty of awards to look forward to throughout his career. Although this was his very first show in Atlanta, the Harlem MC was embraced as if he’d been an artist that the crowd has grown up listening to for years.
