You had to know that Kendrick Lamar’s Dr. Dre connection was going to come in handy. The Fader reports that the “HiiiPower” rapper and his Black Hippy brethren (ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock) have signed a deal to formally align their rhyme powers with Aftermath and Interscope Records. The joint venture is actually between Kendrick and company’s Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) indie label home and the houses that Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine built.

According to TDE founder  Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, Kendrick’s as yet untitled major label debut will be released on TDE/Interscope/Aftermath, while solo album’s from the rest of the TDE roster will be released jointly with Interscope. With added major label muscle, Kendrick Lamar will surely find spots in all those best of lists he didn’t happen to make in 2011 by the time 2012 is a wrap.
