UPDATE: Video has appeared, see below. Also, it was a bandana, not a du-rag. Nevertheless, fades were dispensed.
Austin, Texas’ SXSW Festival came to a close with violence as a fight broke out between A$AP Rocky’s A$AP Mob and the audience at a party at 3:30AM this morning (Sunday, March 18th). A$AP Rocky was performing at a Vice Magazine sponsored event when the incident went down, reports Spinner.
Apparently A$AP and company were deep on stage, as usual, and things started going downhill when someone in their crew had their du-rag snatched off. While demanding its return, someone in the audience threw a can of beer on stage. The “Pesos” rapper tried to settle things down but then another beer can was sent flying toward the stage. The Harlem rapper warned the crowd that there would be trouble if anything else was thrown on stage. Taking into consideration that it was the last night of SXSW, of course more items were hurled tat the stage.
That was when the A$AP Mob jumped into the crowd and started distributing fades, allegedly. Security eventually cleared the floor, police were summoned and the party was shut down. Coincidentally, the band Fidlar was on the bill and tweeted earlier in the day, “We are playing the
@VICE late night party tonight with @TRASH_TALK (1am) and ASAP Rocky (2am). We are on at 3am. We’re gonna die.”
Fortunately, only an audience member with a bloody wound to his head has been reported so far. Late last year, A$AP and crew were involved in an incident at the Fader Fort in NYC that left a stagehand injured.
