As expected, the untimely death of Adam “MCA” Yauch has landed the Beastie Boys back on the charts.  Seven of the Hip-Hop trio’s albums have found their way to the Billboard Hot 200, including their 1986 Licensed To Ill debut, hitting the No. 18 spot pushing 19,100 units in the last week. Other albums seeing an increase in sales are their greatest hits compilation Solid Gold Hits with 8,000 records sold taking the No. 51 slot on the charts, just above their sophomore release Paul’s Boutique which landed at No. 56 selling 7,700 copies.

Since Yauch’s death last week, the two remaining members have become the target of legal action, at the hands of Tuf America. The company filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the group, and Columbia Records, for the unlawful use of samples on two of the three aforementioned albums. Tuf America alleges that while the group paid for the use of two records, they had no right to use four different tracks from the R&B funk group Trouble Funk.

The Beastie Boys have yet to release a statement on the pending legal matter.
