Fans of the Batman movie franchise have been treated to a pair of excellent film renditions of the DC Comic superhero tale from director Christopher Nolan and starring Academy Award-winning actor Christian Bale. 2005’s Batman Begins and the 2008 follow-up The Dark Knight were both huge box office smashes and cemented the legend of Batman and his tortured alter-ego Bruce Wayne. With Nolan stating repeatedly he is done with the franchise, salivating fans will be treated to the last movie of the trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, on July 20. A 13-minute long trailer released by Warner Bros. Studios promises an explosive end to arguably the best comic-to-movie adaptation ever.

Christian Bale reprises his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, taking place eight years after the epic events of The Dark Knight and the chilling arch-villain The Joker (played expertly by the late Heath Ledger). Having been exiled after taking responsibility for the crimes committed by Harvey Dent/Two Face, Batman is forced out of his seclusion by the crazed terrorist Bane (played by Tom Hardy) who seeks to destroy Gotham and challenges Batman on both a physical and mental level. Also appearing in the finale is Anne Hathaway who plays Selina Kyle aka The Catwoman – who develops a relationship with the typically somber Batman. Morgan Freeman will also return as Lucius Fox and Sir Michael Caine portrays loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth for the last time.
