Sports journalist Skip Bayless has a theory as to why Washington Washington Football Team fans are more apt to support player Kirk Cousins: because he’s White. Bayless, has a reputation for not holding his tongue, and during Monday’s (Aug. 20) appearance on ESPN’s First Take  he explained that White Washington Football Team fans are rooting for the rookie quarterback over  Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, who is Black. “I’m going to throw it out there. You also have the Black-White dynamic and the majority of Washington Football Team fans are White. And it’s just human nature, if you’re White to root for the White guy,” he said. “It just happens in sports. Just like the Black community will root for the Black quarterback.”

In his mind, the Washington Football Team signed Cousins to throw a little healthy competition in Griffin’s direction.

Before things got too awkward, Bayless also made it clear that he has love for Griffin. “I’m for the black guy. I’m just saying, I don’t like the dynamic for RG3. It could stunt his growth in the NFL,”  he proclaimed.

As outlandish as his comments are, Bayless does bring up an interesting point, one that was raised during the election of President Obama. The POTUS grabbed a large portion of the Black vote, prompting Congressman Joe Walsh to announce that Obama only became president because he’s Black.
