Nasir Bin Olu Dara Jones has always told a story with his album covers, to the point where the art work plays as important a role as the content itself. For the cover of Life Is Good, draping a green wedding dress over his lap was a clear shot at his dilapidated relationship with Kelis.

Married in 2005, after a bitter divorce battle, that climaxed with Nas covering his ex-wife’s medical bills, expenses, and legal fees,  rather than slander the mother of his child in public, the 38-year-old let his new music show the rebirth of his creativity.

Kicking off the trend by way of his 1994 Illmatic debut, by placing the Queensbridge projects in the background of his childhood photo, Nas has never been far removed from his roots. For 2008’s Untitled release, the lyrical legend mimicked a 1863 photo of a slave with welts on his back,  proving that he is as much of a teacher as he is an MC.

In honor of his latest project, which received the ultimate stamp of approval from double XXL, calling the work his “best album since Stillmatic,” we  put together a photo gallery of all 10 Nas albums to judge (once and for all) which is the best. Hit the gallery to refresh your memory, then weigh in via our poll at the very end.

Also, be sure to pick up that Life Is Good album if you haven’t done so already.
