Earlier this week, Donald Glover, better known as Childish Gambino, unleashed a barrage of Instagram photos with notes of a personal nature. While some speculated the move from the rapper and actor was a cry for help, Bino debunked all rumors by saying he was simply getting some things off his chest.

In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE magazine, Glover broke down the reasons he unleashed the notes and admitted that he’s been going through a few things. It appears the Community star has a handle on the situation, despite doubts from the outside.

But the actor now says he was merely venting. “That night, we had a show, and then afterwards, I had this moment of feeling like, ‘What’s the point? Why am I even here?’ “ Glover told PEOPLE exclusively Wednesday. “I just wanted to write down my feelings. I definitely was just expressing myself.”

“If I’m depressed, everybody’s depressed,” he says. “I don’t think those feelings are that different from what everybody’s feeling. Most people just don’t tell everybody.”

Glover didn’t open up much into his comments about leaving Community to pursue rap music, but the 30-year-old artist did say that his moment of catharsis helped clear his head a bit.

“I’m glad people saw it. I feel like I got some stuff out there,” Glover said in conclusion. “I got it off my chest. It felt like I had been holding on to something.”

Glover took to Twitter last night  to address those speculating on his mental state.

“[I] keep hearing that im “troubled” or “depressed,” tweeted Glover. “i just thought that was something most people were experiencing. if im clinically depressed like they say, then most of us are.”
