Despite the controversy surrounding the supposed lack of Black women on the cover of his G I R L album, Pharrell sticks to his guns in a visual for “Marilyn Monroe” that’s another homage to women of all races, colors, and creeds. But this comes after he stirred another conversation on the Internets.

Yesterday (April 22), Pharrell included artwork featuring a beautiful woman of a darker complexion in a tweet to alert fans of the treatment’s upcoming arrival. While some celebrated the imagery, others accused the Grammy winner of trolling to the umpteenth degree and even using the piece as a ploy to make up for the aforementioned gripe.

Nevertheless, the Luis Cervero-directed video arrives today and it features, well, a lot of girls, including the woman on the preview piece. Pharrell is but a fixture in the constant movement taking place on screen. It’s the collective of women who are the stars here for the most part.

See the official clip for “Marilyn Monroe” below. Let’s see what people think of this. Share your thoughts in the comments.
