NFL star Peyton Manning is the proud owner of 21 Papa John’s pizzeria franchises in the Denver, Colorado area. You most likely know this just from turning on the television on any football Sunday.

Given the popularity of the Italian pies in this country, one would assume that manning (get it?) a successful franchise like Papa John’s would automatically equate to success. But Peyton told Sports Illustrated’s Peter King that it is the munchies that is helping move the pepperoni out his doors.

“There’s some different laws out here in Colorado,” Manning says. “Pizza business is pretty good out here, believe it or not, due to some recent law changes. So when you come to a different place, you’ve kind of got to learn everything that comes with it.”

Of course, he’s speaking on the legalization of marijuana in the The Centennial State. A move that has proven lucrative for their economy as a whole. A CNN report in February found that Colorado took in $184 million in tax revenue following the first year and a half of legislation. That is a lot of green.

Figuratively and literally.
