Earlier this year, Hip-Hop Wired unofficially crowned young Mo’ne Davis athlete of the year. It seems the Associated Press heard whispers of grandeur.
Via MediaBistro:
Mo’ne Davis — a teenage pitcher who broke into the the national conversation by striking out batter after batter in the Little League World Series — has been named the Associated Press’s Female Athlete of The Year. At just 13 years old, she is the youngest recipient of the award ever.
Davis, who also appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated this year, has her jersey in baseball’s Hall of Fame and was named the Kid of The Year by Sports Illustrated Kids.
Davis, who stars in Spike Lee’s Throw Like A Girl, is famous for her wizardry on the mound, but desires to now focus on basketball. Her lifelong dream is to play in the WNBA.
