Eddie Murphy was supposed to play Bill Cosby in a SNL 40 sketch last Sunday (Feb. 15) but decided against it because he didn’t want to “kick a man when he’s down.” Former cast member Norm MacDonald went on Twitter Wednesday (Feb. 18,) to share an incredibly long and detailed story about Murphy pulling out of the skit at the last minute.
MacDonald was in charge of getting him to do it on show day. He goes through the drawn out story of Murphy’s time at SNL, and static with the long-running comedy show.
When Murphy finally returned for the 40th anniversary special over the weekend, he didn’t seem the least bit excited to be there. He also didn’t participate in any skits (probably because he still hates SNL).
It would’ve been interesting to see him play Cosby, but chances are it wouldn’t have gone over well.
Check the gallery for some of McDonald’s tweets.
