Vic Mensa has been using his platform to promote the Black Lives Matter agenda, but it was his inaction in Detroit that showed that his not for the games right now.
Vic Mensa was scheduled to play Detroit venue Populux on July 29 as a part of his Back With A Vengeance tour. But he has announced that he will not be doing the show after a racist tweet was fired off from the venues Twitter account.
The since-deleted tweet read, “#blameobama all you libtards caused these deaths. #dallasshooting #fuckblacklivesmatter.” The tweet also featured a picture of Birdman on a bottle of hotsause with the now tired phrase “put some respeck on it.”
Mensa took a screenshot of the tweet and responded, “Will not be performing at @PopuluxDetroit on#BackWithAVengeance due to the racist comments they tweeted yesterday.”

Populux apologized for the tweet and claimed that their account was hacked. That tweet has been taken down as well. The venue also posted a lengthy Facebook apology:
“The tweets, political views and hate messaging that were posted to our Twitter account in the last 24 hours in no way represents our feelings, outlook, or political positions. We didn’t authorize these tweets. We’re working to understand how our account was compromised. We have the IP addresses from the users that we believe posted these unauthorized messages and are working to identify the individuals involved. We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.”
The Facebook apology was taken down hours after it was posted and the entire Poplux Detroit twitter account has disappeared as well.
