Azealia Banks just reached the legal drinking age this past May, but could the fast-rising Harlem native already be considering retirement? In an interview with Hypetrak TV during her recent stop in Hong Kong for the Clockenflap music festival, the 1991 rapper spoke on her favorite music of the year, her full-length LP Broke With Expensive Taste and a surprising revelation she wants to retire from the genre that’s gained her so much fame.

Considered one of Hip-Hop’s most buzzed-about acts, Azealia Banks gave a huge nod to another trendsetting rapper after answering the question of what was her favorite release of the year. “Mykki Blanco’s mixtape, The Illuminati Prince, it just came maybe a little or over a month ago,” said Banks. She continued to gush over the cross-dressing artist who tackles some of the same thumping club sounds employed in her own tunes.

2013 looks to be an ambitious year for the 21-year-old and her aims are certainly attainable if not lofty. “If the universe allows me to do things they I want to do them, I want to get two albums out in 2013,” Banks shared. “I don’t want to necessarily take a break, but I want to do some sound research and come up with a different style.”

The bombshell, however, came when the Interscope signee said she’d like to retire from rap because she thinks the art form is “tacky” and “un-ladylike.”  She further explained, “I like it, but I think I’m going to get tired of it. I’d like to get two albums out and get all of the urban, rap music stuff out. Maybe I’ll go back to school and take voice lessons again.” Interesting.

This isn’t the first time Banks has hinted at quitting rap. Back in June, she went on Twitter to say she preferred to be considered a vocalist instead of a rapper.
